Lead Attorney
Stephen J. Johnson
Steve has been practicing law in California for over 33 years. He was born in Oakland, California, then moved to Chico, California, where he grew up. Prior to law school, Steve earned his B.A. degree from California State University, Chico, in 1969 and then completed 5 years of post-graduate study in behavioral and counseling psychology. He practiced marriage counseling for 2 years before entering law school.
Steve earned his law degree from the University of California Davis, School of Law, in 1979. He was admitted to the Bar and began his practice that same year. After graduating and passing the bar, Steve began in private law practice in the San Francisco Bay area in 1981 with offices in San Francisco, Oakland, and San Rafael. During that time his practice was expanded to include Sacramento and the Sierra Foothills; Steve decided to move to Auburn and focus on helping people in the greater Placer County and Sacramento area.
Steve now specializes in complete debt solutions for individuals and businesses with an emphasis on IRS and tax debt issues, 2nd mortgage stripping, foreclosure prevention, and consumer debt solutions. He has devoted his career to guiding his clients in solving their financial difficulties, regardless of the complexity. His primary goal for the practice now is to continue to provide the "one-on-one" working relationship with his clients that sets him apart from most attorneys and law firms today.
Steve is a family man and an avid fisherman, and when he is not in the office, you will usually find him in a boat at the lake, traveling with his wife, playing with his grandkids, or just enjoying the great outdoors.

Sheri Bruce
Sheri is the Operations Manager for our firm. She has been here, in various roles, since 2009. Her responsibilities include budget planning, advertising, marketing, strategic planning, and human resources, and with over 10 years of experience in operations and management, Sheri is a valuable asset to our legal team. Sheri graduated from Western Washington University with a BA in Communications and recently got her California Real Estate License. In her spare time, Sheri enjoys selling real estate, spending time with her friends and family, traveling, golfing, and watching her girls play soccer, dance, volleyball, and basketball, to name a few of their many activities.
Jolie Browne
Jolie is truly one of the best case managers our firm has ever had. She has a very positive attitude and great desire to help our clients. Jolie joined the firm in 2013 as a legal receptionist and quickly worked her way up by showing genuine concern for our clients and enthusiasm for helping everyone around her. Jolie’s family moved to Auburn in 2006 from the Bay Area. Before joining our firm, she was home raising her 2 youngest children. In her spare time, you will find her traveling to visit her grandbaby or to some other fun destination. She also loves watching her younger kids compete in one of their various sports.
