Stephen J. Johnson

Steve has been practicing law in California for over 33 years. He was born in Oakland California then moved to Chico, California where he grew up. Prior to Law School, Steve earned his B.A. Degree from California State University, Chico in 1969 and then completed 5 years of post-graduate study in behavioral and counseling psychology. He practiced marriage counseling for 2 years before entering law school.

Steve earned his law degree from the University of California Davis, School of Law in 1979. He was admitted the Bar and began his practice that same year. After graduating and passing the bar, Steve began in private law practice in the San Francisco Bay area in 1981 with offices in San Francisco, Oakland and San Rafael. During that time his practice was expanded to include Sacramento and the Sierra Foothills, Steve decided to move to Auburn and focus on helping people in the greater Placer County and Sacramento area.

Steve now specializes in complete debt solutions for individuals and businesses with an emphasis on IRS and tax debt issues; 2nd mortgage stripping; foreclosure prevention and consumer debt solutions. He has devoted his career to guiding his clients in solving their financial difficulties, regardless of the complexity. His primary goal for the practice now is to continue to provide the "one on one" working relationship with his clients that sets him apart from most attorneys and law firms today.

Steve is a family man and an avid fisherman, and when he is not in the office you will usually find him in a boat at the lake, traveling with his wife, playing with his grandkids or just enjoying the great outdoors.

Attorney Luke Garcia


Luke Garcia

Luke began working with our firm in April of 2012 and has been an asset to our team. He has been featured on television and radio as an experienced authority on bankruptcy and real estate law. Additionally, he has spoken to community groups and professional associations as a guest lecturer on real estate law.

Luke was born and raised in Washington and attended the University of Washington where he was awarded a degree in History and English. He attended UC Davis School of Law at King Hall where he focused his studies on negotiation and alternative dispute resolution i.e. arbitration and mediation.

While at King Hall, Mr. Garcia founded the King Hall Negotiations Team, a student organization that increased the awareness of how negotiation interacts with the law. Prior to the creation of the King Hall Negotiations Team the school could only offer enough negotiation course work to allow a very limited number of students to have a course in negotiation. Now the King Hall Negotiations Team is open to the whole student body and boasts an average participation of over half the students each year. The team has gone on since its founding to win both the national and international negotiations competitions and continues to grow in prestige.

In his off time he enjoys hiking, camping, playing guitar and chess, riding his Harley, and spending time with his wife and their two dogs.

Sheri Bruce

Sheri is the Operations Manager for our firm. She has been here, in various roles, since 2009. Her responsibilities include budget planning, advertising, marketing, strategic planning, and Human resources and with over 10 years experience in operations and management, Sheri is a valuable asset to our legal team. Sheri Graduated from Western Washington University with a BA in Communications and is considering returning to school for a Masters in Business Administration. In her spare time Sheri enjoys spending time with her friends and family, traveling, golfing, working at her daughters school and watching her girls play soccer, gymnastics, golf and basketball to name a few of their many activities.

Carolyn West

Carolyn has been a case manager with us since August, 2011 and specializes in Chapter 7 bankruptcy cases. Before working for the firm, she attended Azusa Pacific University where she graduated summa cum laude with a bachelorís degree in political science. Carolyn is a member of the Pi Sigma Alpha honor society and is currently enrolled as a graduate student at the California State University of Sacramento. In her spare time she enjoys painting, traveling, reading and spending time with family and friends.

Sara Myles

Sara is an experienced Paralegal with broad experience in the legal field. She is a graduate from MTI College with an AA in Paralegal Studies. Besides working in the Bankruptcy field; Sara has also worked in Personal Injury, General Litigation, Structured Settlements, Workers Compensation and Unlawful Detainers. When Sara is not working she enjoys spending time with her family, especially baking with her two young children. Sara also enjoys reading and can often be found doing this on her breaks.

Jolie Browne

Jolie is the newest addition to our firm and we are excited to have another Legal Assistant with a positive attitude and great desire to help our clients. Jolieís family moved to Auburn in 2006 from the bay area. Before joining our firm she was home raising her 2 youngest children and is now excited to be back in the workforce. In her spare time you will find Jolie watching her younger kids at Karate or soccer or traveling to fun destinations to meet up with her oldest daughter.
